Dark Knight

I took myself to see the new batman film today and I would now like to spoil it a bit so if you have not seen it yet and intend to might I suggest not reading any further.

Okay, so my general reaction after all that madness and mayhem is



but to be more specific…

The joker did indeed steal that film in my eyes. I was much more interested in what he was doing and the poor people who were unfortunate enough to be his victims than I was in what Bruce was up to. Maybe that was because I knew I was watching a fine young actor give his final performance but I don’t think so because I was so entranced by him that I had to keep reminding myself he was no longer of this mortal coil.

I did however take notice of Batman at the very very end when Harvey had the little boy. That scene did indeed make me cry, partially for the whole “lie to him” bit and partially when Batman decided to sacrifice himself to protect Harvey.

And even though it was really long and had to set up and then deal with psycho Harvey on top of the Joker, it managed to use it’s time very wisely, unlike the third instalment of a certain insectiod man creature that shall remain nameless. They did kinda rush the Two Face part of the Harvey Dent story but he got a pretty satisfying ending.

I liked the Tommy Lee Jones Two Face, but that was a different, much lighter film (in comparaisson) and the Tommy Lee Two Face suited that film. This one was much darker and therefore needed (and got) a much darker Two Face whose motives were obvious and understandable. Shame they had to kill him at the end though but I did love his creepy meltered half face, that was very very nicely done.

Gthe storty itself was so compeling I comletly forgot what happened at the start with the chinease man and the mob and stuff, but that doesn’t matter since it wasn’t all that important in the grand sceme of things.

And despite its darkness, I would happily see it again.
