So, I went last night and

it was awesomness incarnate and fantasticness and just WOAW!!!!
So, it took a ridiculously long time to get in, but while I was milling around I found

and

whereupon we proceeded to geek out and tease each other with the mechandice on sale (which Id missed) and how far through KH Days we are (Im finished it). The ticket said doors open at 18.30 but it was something closer 19.30 before we got into the hall proper and were able to take our seats, where I found to my delight that I was sitting in an aisle seat. To my dismay I found that I was staring at the back of a giant hairy man head that couldnt make up its mind where it wanted to settle and it was forever leaning out into the aisle that I was leaning into in order to get a half decent view. Still, there were big screens so I could still see what was going on.
At the start they played a couple of videos just to get us in the mood for the funness to follow. The one that was playing when I walked in was called Yuri The Only One by the LeetSreet Boys and it made me LOL several times, the best one being at the end; Selphies mum has got it going on with Sephiroth dressed in a Vote for Pedro T-Shirt doing the Napoleon Dynamite dance. ROFLs for quite a while after that.
The next one was a tribute to Micheal Jackson, for gamers. It literally was a little Micheal Jackson moonwalking his way through classic 8 bit games.

I hope I can find that one on tinternet.
The third was footage of someone dressed as Mrs Packman being chased across some American city by four other people dressed as the ghosts. Laughs and giggles all around.
So, in the first half they played the two things I was really looking forward to; KH and FF and unfortunately both of them slightly disappointed me. For everything else the orchestra and choir played the music and they had footage of the games playing on the screens above as accompaniment.
With KH they played Hikari Kingdom (a gorgeous piece of music I have to say) but they played footage of Disney movies. Related I suppose but it would have been so SO much better if the had KH footage to go along with. With FF they brought out this ridiculously skilled piano player, who is famous all over the Internet for playing the Mario Brothers theme blindfolded and at an incredible speed. He played a medley of FF themes, the only one of which I could pick out was from FFX which he played at the start and went backwards through the games from there. Again, dont get me wrong it was gorgeous, but notable for its lack of accompanying footage on screen. I have a feeling it might have something to do with copyright laws since everything else came with footage though so probably cant be helped.
BTW, that guy really can play that inhumanly fast and blindfolded. I saw it live. Even when I was watching him on the screen (big hairy man head was in the way so I couldnt get a clear view of the real guy on stage) I found myself asking if the camera wasnt on fast forward.
Oh, and the first thing they played was from Metal Gear Solid so they brought out a guy in costume with an exclamation mark over his head running around all over the stage. Closely followed by someone, who turned out to be the host, running around under a big cardboard box.
They had a couple of competitions; the first was human space invaders. The girl who got picked had to wear a t-shirt with the ship on the back while she faced the screen in front of her. She had a little button to fire the bullets and something tracked her movements meaning she controlled the ship by moving sideways across the stage. She lost unfortunately but damn it was fun to watch.
The second competition was held before the actual performance and the winner got to come on stage to try and win the proper prize. It was a guitar hero competition and when he was brought on stage he was told that the orchestra and the host would playing along with the music too. The requirement was to get 125,000 points on hard mode, the competitor shook his head to that so the host said what, is that too hard? to which the response was no, its too easy, can I try it on expert? The host then said, alright, 125,000 on expert.
Jammy Git actually managed it, he even had the audacity to turn his back on the screen for a short period, during which he achieved a 50 note streak. At the age of 14.
Dont know whether it was a display of badassocity or suprieme cockyness but it was damn cool to witness.
The Royal National Scottish Orchestra and Dundee Univerity Choir played Super Mario Brothers and Sonic. It kicked ass.
Then the host got us to sing the Mario theme tune, with all the words being dit dit dit dit dit dit dugh
In mu opion it all finished far too soon, and Im guesing the rest of the audience agreed with me since we all started chanting for more when the host and conducter left the stage. They came back of course and gave a bit of a rousing speech, teasing us with which FF game they were going to play from. Turned out to be 7 so that obviously meant One Winged Angel. Again, they didnt show any game footage, but they had a slideshow of FF7 cosplayers and fanart (there was one with Sephiroth with a Chocobo that got a laugh). When they were finished that they glanced at their watches and asked us Want one more? Guess what we said?
So they played Castlevania.
This time they really did finish and we left, where met up with

and

and we all walked home. While outside waiting for Keyo to come back I found I had clapped so much my right hand was red raw, cracked and bleeding thanks to my dermatitis. It was worth it though.
The host pandered to us by drinking Irn Bru and eating tablet on stage. We all cheered him for his bravery while thinking dude, youre gonna rot your teeth and then slip into a diabetic coma after the show. Enjoy
If they came back next week I would go back, £35 price tag on a ticket be damned. I have a good excuse too, they said they have like 60 different potential segments they can put together and they can only play 18 or so in a night so every performance is different from the last.
And that is that for another instalment
